" goddess of light"

"the little match girl"

Both ATCs were made using the same technique. I took an image from my Ephemera CD collection that was printed on a laser jet printer. Next I selected the paper I wanted to use (watrecolor paper, cardstock, patterned paper) then covered the image with a thin layer of matte gel medium. I then flipped it face DOWN onto my background of choice, brayered it then went over it with my bone folder. Voila!

I love the colours in the little match girl. She is wonderful. The papers with the German words on them are perfect accompaniments to the images.

Last weekend, I started experimenting with gel medium transfers. I need to do some practicing ... probably need a brayer, though I did go over and over it with a bone folder. Any hints about being successful with this?

I just found your blog and love your work. I have a question about using gel medium. Do you wait for the image to dry? How do you remove the unwanted backing paper after the image is transferred?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you ladies! I think I love this technique because it's my way of avoiding a PERFECT "copy" of someone elses image. It's much more personal and certainly varies each and every time. - xo
